Yao Ming should be signed to a seven year contract this off-season

Yao Ming has missed last season and this current season due to injuries. Yao becomes an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. No one should sign him right. Wrong.

If I told every NBA fan in the U.S. that a team should sign Yao Ming to a seven year contract, I would end up in the hospital. Though I think Yao should be signed to a seven year contract by a team.

Yao might not be too attractive to a team because of all his injuries, but he gave the Lakers trouble in the 2009 playoffs. Yao led the Rockets to a seven game series against the L.A. Lakers. If a team like the New York Knicks looking for that last piece signed him, they could be championship contenders.

Carmelo Anthony is likely to be wearing a Knicks jersey season and Amare Stoudamire is all ready in New York. If the Knicks signed Yao Ming to a seven year contract and gave him a few million dollars a year, he could become elite again. Yao could then help Anthony, Stodamire and the Knicks win a championship. Yao would also be locked in for seven years so he could be playing great for cheap for several years. The Knicks could also bring in another player like Chris Paul or Dwight Howard from free agency and build an amazing team. The Knicks could become the next Miami Heat.

It takes a risk to sign Yao Ming, but to build a championship roster, you have to take risks.

Ron Artest wants to get out of L.A.

Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak told reporters he was looking for a trade. The Lakers are having a disappointing season even though their record is 34-15. Now starting small forward Ron Artest has said that he hopes he is the one to leave.

Artest was traded to the Lakers hoping that he could win a championship and he was the star of the Lakers in game seven last season. Artest also hit a buzzer-beater against the Phoenix Suns in the playoffs which changed the momentum of the series. Without Artest the Lakers probably would not had a championship run last season.

Artest is 31 years old and is averaging the least amount of points and rebounds a game for his career. Artest is also only shooting 69% from the free throw line. It would be very hard for the Lakers to trade Artest.

I’ve heard all kinds of ideas from people of who they should trade for. Antwan Jamison, Dirk Nowitzki, even Carmelo Anthony. I think the Lakers should look for a small forward in return. A player who can help like Richard Jefferson or Andrei Kirilenko. I’m not saying they should get those exact players, but a player with about that much talent. They could help the Lakers and be a key factor in the playoffs, though I’m not so sure that Artest should leave.

The Lakers have dominated the west for years and they have won the last two championships. The team is aging, but they have an amazing coach, a great roster which includes Kobe Bryant. Artest is getting plenty of money and living in a beautiful city. The Spurs might be the best team, but San Antonio is also aging and so are the Dallas Mavericks. If Dirk Nowitzki and Tim Duncan start to get injured more, the Lakers could have an easy entrance back to the finals.

Where are the Boston Celtics headed?

The Boston Celtics have one of the NBA’s best franchises, so why do I think their 2010 finals appearance their last in a while?

Boston has a lot of old stars. Their star players get injured and their team struggles. Kevin Garnett is not playing right now and they lost their second straight game to Chris Paul’s Hornets last night. star point guard Rajon Rondo will miss his seventh straight game so backup Nate Robinson is starting. Centers Kendrick Perkins and Jermaine O’Neal had injuries earlier this season which kept them out so veteran Shaquille O’Neal has been starting all year. Shaq still contributes but he is no longer an elite center in the NBA. If these players are getting injured all around how are the Celtics supposed to win? They aren’t.

With Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Shaquille O’Neal aging, retirement might be coming right around the corner. If Boston can’t go to the finals this season due to injuries, how are they supposed to beat future Miami, Orlando, New York and Chicago teams. Dallas will soon be the best team in the west and with no Ray Allen or Shaq, Boston could begin to fade to the team that they were in the early 2000′s.

Coach Doc Rivers almost retired last season and if he cant believe in his team, why come back for another season. Rivers will probably retire and go hang out with his family. Why not, he could easily leave the job of coaching a re-building Celtics team to someone else. It would help his health to. The road that the Celtics are headed down is not very pretty. Maybe not every Boston sport was meant to be great in one season.

Will Pau Gasol go down as one of the NBA's best power forwards of all time?

Pau Gasol is a 7 foot tall power forward for the Los Angeles Lakers from Spain. Gasol is arguably the best NBA power forward currently in the league but will he go down as one of the best players ever? Will he pass Tim Duncan and take a spot in the top ten players of all time? Will he be a hall of famer? Will he be the best power forward ever?

Gasol is a great forward because he is a great defender and he pulls down plenty of boards. He also scores for LA and he will make triple doubles look easy. In the last two years he was a big factor in the Lakers repeat and he also helped them go to the finals 3 years ago. When center Andrew Bynum is out with injuries Gasol can play center.

Gasol is thirty years old and has a good 8 or 9 years left in him. Could he keep a dynasty with the Lakers? If Gasol leads the Lakers to a 3-peat he will defiantly be remembered as one of the NBA’s best big men. Duncan kept fueling the Spurs after David Robinson left and Gasol needs to do that when Bryant leaves.

I do not know if Gasol will do that thought because of hi age. He is getting older and after Bryant retires he will probably be a helper but not like he is now. I do not think that Gasol at his age will be able to win the spot of the best power forward of all time. Though Gasol might be in the top ten of all time, number 1 seems a little high for him.

Lebron is hated, here is why

I defended Lebron James in one of my other stories, now I want to look at the story from Cavaliers fans eyes. I do not agree with these fans ideas but it is only fair that I look at the story from their perspective.

Cavaliers fans were devastated after James’ decision. Some cried and some burnt their jersey’s. The fans say Lebron James went too far by going on TV. He should at least have done it in Cleveland right?

They say they were loyal to him all those years, they gave him millions of dollars each year and they loved him and his family. They lived through the hard times going 17-65 the year before they drafted him.

Lebron is from Ohio so he should be loyal to Cleveland and all their fans. They think he never actually cared about Cleveland, he just wanted to win. He left Cleveland just so he could go play in Miami with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

Cleveland fans can go on all day of all the things they did for him. Now they think have the right to make websites such as ihatelebronjames.com.

They could go on and on about how Lebron was wrong and they were right. He should at least have gone to a place like Chicago were he isn’t with a bunch of stars.

People saw them cry, they saw them yell. Lebron didn’t do anything. He didn’t care about them. He went to games wearing a New York Yankees hat. He never cared about Cleveland. That’s what they say.

Lebron James is headed back to Cleveland

On July 8, 2010 Lebron James said the now famous words, “I’m going to take my talents to South Beach and join the Miami Heat.” Cleveland fans got very angry and now he has to show up in Cleveland again. Fights might start and chanting wont be too nice.

Why can’t Cleveland fans give Lebron a break? James is from Akron. Akron. Akron is not Cleveland. Cleveland Cavaliers fans do not have the right to call him a trader and a liar. He never lied. He never said he was going to stay in Cleveland. He is not from Cleveland, he is from Akron, two different cities. If I was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and I was drafted to the Miami Heat, I have no responsibility to keep playing in Miami. If I become a free agent, I could go anywhere where I am wanted.

Why should James be hated in Cleveland when he didn’t even have the choice to go there? It wasn’t his decision to be drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers, but it was his decision to go to Miami. It was his decision to go to St. Vincent St. Mary High School.

People in Akron and Cleveland hated him when he was in high school. Theythought he was being paid and they booed him at the games. He helped the team be ranked first in the country and the fans booed him.

James was not a prisoner in Cleveland, he was a professional basketball player. He was a free agent, and last time I checked, free agents were allowed to go where they wanted. So I am sick of hearing Cavaliers fans whine about James “betraying” them. And calling him Lebenedict Arnold James is wrong.

Benedict Arnold was a spy. calling a player Lebenedict Arnold James is rude. It is not right and that makes me angry. It is like Kevin Garnett calling Charlie Villanueva a cancer patient. That behavior is childish and should not be tolerated.

James gave Cleveland so much. he took them to the finals. He did  everything he could to win them a championship, but his team could not produce. He wanted a championship. The fans and the team wanted James, the team had James, but James had no ring.

Maybe it would have been better for the league if James had stayed in Cleveland. Maybe he should have been the home town hero and his ego would be better. But he left. It’s time for Cleveland to move on. Find a new hero. Don’t sulk about the past. Don’t say what if. Look at future stars, Antwan Jamison and J.J. Hickson, rebuild a franchise. Then go win a championship. Get over Lebron James.

Dan Gilbert can talk all he wants. Fans can say what they want and Mo Williams can tweet anything, but all it is is talk. Talk doesn’t win a championship, action does. How the team plays on the court is what wins championships. The Cleveland Cavaliers need to do that on December second. If they talk smack and boo the Miami Heat, what good will it do? Mack R. Douglas once said “When a man has done his best, has give his all, and in the process supplied the needs of his family and his society, that man has made a habit of succeeding.”

This is one of many anti-Lebron videos on the internet.

Udonis Haslem could be out until the all-star break with torn ligament

I could go on all day about how the chemistry has been a big reason the Heat haven’t played as well as we expected, or how 3 stars on one team is too many, or how a team with so many stars need a better coach, but there is a bigger problem for the Heat. Injuries. Dwyane Wade missed the whole pre-season and he was injured again recently, but only for a game or two. Mike Miller might not be back until January.

Haslem had only 4 points and 1 rebound in the Heat's loss Saturday

Now power forward Udonis Haslem is out for at least 6 weeks with a torn ligament in his left foot. Pat Riley, the GM of the Miami Heat, said they are not sure whether or not Haslem will need surgery but they are “dealing with Superman.”

A specialist will visit the Heat to see how how Haslem is on Monday. The team will go from there.

Haslem is very important to the Miami Heat, averaging 8 points per game (PPG) and 8 rebounds per game (RPG). The stats might not be too convincing but after the Miami Heat’s plan with their big 3 falling down, Hasem was a key factor to the team’s chances this season. That could lead the team to more changes on their roster.

Unless James Jones moves up to power forward, which is doubtful, Juwan Howard will be the back-up to Chris Bosh who is now only playing 33 minutes per game (MPG). After Miller’s injury Riley brought in veteran shooting guard Jerry Stackhouse. Now, to keep from Juwan Howard playing 15 MPG, he might bring in an Erick Dampier or a Javaris Crittenton.

Yao Ming of the Houston Rockets is out for 1 week

Yao Ming is one of the NBA’s best centers. He is one of the tallest players ever in the NBA standing 7’6”. The problem with Ming is his injuries. Ming has had injuries every season and it kills the Houston Rockets. Last year a season long injury left Ming on the sidelines as the Rockets crumbled. Now the Rockets are 1-6 with Ming starting. The problem is probably that he is just getting back to being able to play basketball, it will take a while for Ming to come back. But how long? Ming suffered a minor injury in the Rockets loss to the Washington Wizards that will keep him out one week. The Rockets look dead now. Ming is their star player and he is being limited on playing time, he is all ready out. Starting point guard for the Rockets Aaron Brooks is out with an ankle injury for 4-6 weeks for the Rockets and their back-up Kyle Lowry is just coming back from an injury. Ishmael Smith had the start for the Rockets. I am not sure who will start in tomorrows game in Indiana but theRockets look beat up this season.

Is Kobe Bryant too old to lead LA to a 3-peat?

Kobe Bryant led the Los Angeles Lakers to the last two repeats, now I question if the Lakers will win a third. Kobe is getting old, he’s thirty-four years old, and you know what happens to people who are thirty-four. The Lakers must be frustrated right now, their training camps were bad and in the preseason they stand with a record of 2-3. They are not going to win a championship with the way they have been playing, look at all the other big NBA teams, the Boston Celtics are 6-1, the Magic are 6-0, the Heat are 3-3 and Oklahoma City is 3-2. Only two of the powerhouse NBA teams are below .500. the Lakers and the Bulls. I’m not too convinced by the Lakers. Kobe is losing prime, Bynum is injured, all these things are piecing together. Bynum’s injuries are the same things that are killing Portland with Greg Oden, and it’s not working out. I am not buying LA yet, not until they win some more games.

I decide different trades possible for Carmelo Anthony

Carmelo Anthony has been in the talks of trades a lot recently. The four team trade isn’t going to happen so I decided to look into trades myself.

Derrick Favors, Devin Harris, Kris Humphries-Denver, Carmelo Anthony-New Jersey

This trade would save Denver about $835,000. It isn’t much but it’s better than

Anthony and Lala with their son

getting more money to pay. Denver would get an all-star, a 3rd pick in the NBA draft and a veteran. Denver would probably also want future first or second round picks from New Jersey, but New Jersey would probably go along with the trade.

Eddie Curry, Wilson Chandler, Kelena Azubuike-Denver, Carmelo Anthony-New York

This is a horrible trade for Denver and would not last 5 seconds against my New Jersey trade but New York did need a trade to be proposed.

Loul Deng, Taj Gibson, James Johnson-Denver, Carmelo Anthony-Chicago

Chicago would like this trade and rather do it than get rid of Noah. Melo could really help the team and 3 players would be nice in Denver. Plus Denver would also get a future first round pick.

Kirk Hinrich, Yi Jianlian-Denver, Carmelo Anthony-Denver

It would save Denver about $4,ooo,ooo and they would get future first and second round picks. The Nuggets would be nowhere near as good so they might want Andre Blatch instead. Washington would not give away Gilbert Arenas because Denver would take in more money to pay to be worse so the trade would fall.

I gave you 4 trade ideas. I am going to put myself as the GM of the Nuggets (Masai Ujiri) and look over my choices. If I were to choose 1 I would send Anthony to New Jersey. Melo would be happy in the New York area and I would get some good players and future draft picks. I would no longer have to worry about Anthony and could brush my shoulders off.
