I wrote this recently and I decided not to let it go to waste, even if this is a little late.

The buzzer sounded. American Airlines Arena hadn’t been quieter all year, but now it was all over, all they could do was watch the Dallas players cheer and wish they could have a redo, but this wasn’t a video game, this was reality.

It all began when the Cleveland Cavaliers got eliminated from the 2010 NBA playoffs, LeBron James walked off the court taking off his jersey and we could only wonder what he would do next. Leave.

LeBron headed down to Miami and joined Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. They danced and cheered, but as they often do, the Miami Heat cheered too early. They still had to play an NBA season.

So they played. Sometimes they were laughed at and other times they were respected, and somehow, after a 9-8 start, they managed to finish their season 58-24, favorites to win a ring.

All throughout the playoffs NBA fans watched the Heat speed through the first three rounds. When it was time for the finals, Cleveland diehards were picking Miami to beat Dallas.

That is why it was so disappointing when Miami could not beat the Mavericks, or even force a game seven. But my question is, how?

Miami had the big three and a handful of role players and they couldn’t beat the Mavericks in a best of seven series.

Well, Dallas had a better coach, Rick Carlisle was making changes in the starting line-up in the finals. Carlisle also ran a zone defense, which I believe is the best defense available.

Dallas also had a better supporting cast around their star players. Miami had had Mario Chalmers and Joel Anthony in the starting line-up while Dallas had J.J. Barea and Shawn Marion around their core three players.

The biggest problem for the Heat was their inability to finish games. During the finals there were several games in which the Heat let go of a close game. In game five the Mavericks led 84-79 going into the fourth quarter and won 112-103.

The Miami Heat are a very talented team, but they need to do some work if they want to win a championship, because right now, Miami is not capable to win a championship with the way they played in the NBA finals.

How bout' 'em Grizzlies

The Memphis Grizzlies were a laughing stock when they first made it to the playoffs. I heard people say “sweep,” and “domination.” I’m not going to lie, I am guilty of this. I picked San Antonio in five.

Now Memphis holds a 2-1 series lead over Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Two more wins and they will be headed to the franchise’s first conference finals appearance. Two more wins.

The Grizz need to form a solid bench for a bright future

Okay, they might win game four at home and I would not be surprised if they win three games in this series, three, not four, three.

How would the eighth seeded Memphis Grizzlies upset the Thunder. OKC knows how to get it done.

As long as Kevin Durant gets more shots than Russell Westbrook, OKC wins. But what about Memphis looking forward, they CANNOT go this far and not come back later. They recently re-signed Rudy Gay and it looks like Zach Randolph will re-sign with the team, but some players need to come. Memphis needs a stronger bench.

If the Grizz build a bench like Boston or San Antonio, they could be serious championship contenders. Lionel Hollins has done a tremendous job with this team and I wish them much success.

Kobe and the Lakers take on the Hornets, and they will win.

Andrew Bynum:knee, Matt Barnes:knee, Steve Blake:chickenpox. Those are the three injuries that will affect the Lakers as they take on the New Orleans Hornets today. Though L.A. will still win. Easily.

Why? The Lakers are LONG, and even if the Lakers are missing Bynum, Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom will get the dirty work down low. L.A. is missing Bynum, New Orleans is missing David West.

Chris Paul will be the only problem for L.A, but really, Kobe can stop Paul any day. The Hornets should have their runs, and so will the Lakers, but in the end, Kobe and Pau will destroy the Hornets.

The Lakers have lost five of their last seven, but that WILL not affect the Lakers. the regular season and the post-season are two different seasons, ask any athlete and they’ll tell you that. The Lakers are favorite in this game and they know that. They will produce.

The Bulls beat the Pacers at home 104-99. Derrick Rose scored a career playoff high of 39 points in the win.

The Pacers were leading 96-88 late in the fourth quarter yet Derrick Rose showed us why he should be the MVP this season. Rose caught on fire and made a run with the Bulls. 104-99.

Indiana may have shown a few fans that they can keep up with the Chicago Bulls, maybe not win the series, but a few games. I don’t think so.

How will the Pacers win any post season game if they let the Bulls rally late and win. A 15-3 run for the win. 15-3. Embarrassing.

The series may just be a game in, but it may all ready be wrapping up despite the Pacers late lead.

The Cleveland Cavaliers finally won, now can they win again?

The Cleveland Cavaliers got their first win of 2011 against the L.A. Clippers on Friday, tonight they take on the Washington Wizards. The first time they met, Cleveland started a win streak in a 107-102 road win.

Tonight the Wizards must go to Cleveland looking to snap their 0-25 road record but Cleveland is looking for their tenth win of the season. The Cavaliers have won six of their nine wins at home.

In order for the Wizards to steal a victory tonight, they will need the team’s leader in steals, John Wall to have a good night. I believe that Wall might be a little overrated, but do not count out on the rookie point guard. He can put up big numbers.

Wall averages 16 points per game and nine assists per game. He also averages a pretty high number of rebounds per game for a point guard at four.

Other players on the Wizards roster will have to step up including Andray Blatche and Nick Young. Blatche leads the team in rebounds (8.1 RPG) and Young leads the team in scoring (17.3 PPG) Young has had some great games and he will need one tonight.

Other important players for Washington include forward Rashard Lewis and center JaVale McGee.

As for Cleveland, former Wizards forward Antwan Jamison will need to have a good game. Jamison averages 18 points per game and seven rebounds per game. Jamison needs to stop Blatche from hitting the boards.

Power forward J.J. Hickson also needs to stop Blatche as he is arguably the most important Cavaliers player, and right now, he is the team’s future. Hickson can do a little bit of everything, score, rebound and lead the team.

Center Anderson Varejao and guard Mo Williams will need to play good games to.

Judging by how bad the Wizards are on the road, and how Cleveland is still hungry and craving more, I pick Cleveland to win this game.

Jason Richardson helped the Phoenix Suns scoring 35 points in their 121-116 victory over the LA Lakers

The Phoenix Suns are the same team that made it to the western conference last season. they lost a few big pieces and now they are nothing, but then the Los Angeles Lakers came on the schedule. Pau Gasol had 28 points and 17 rebounds but that wasn’t enough to hold off an amazing 121-116 victory by the Phoenix Suns. Jason Richardson scored 35 points but that wasn’t it. The Phoenix Suns shot 22 3-pointers in the game scoring a franchise record of 3-pointers made.

Phoenix took 40 3-pointers and only capitalized on 22 of them shooting 55% from the field. if they were inside shots it wouldn’t matter but these shots were from behind the arc, and as a team, they shot 55% from 3-point range. They may not look like championship contenders, but they do have their shot and their chemistry.

The Boston end up 1-1 but they did beat the 1-1 Miami Heat

The NBA season started last night, Kobe, Pau and the rest of the Lakers champions got their rings and Boston took on Miami in the most anticipated NBA opener of all time. I got a chance to watch the Heat take on the Celtics in Boston, it was a pretty sloppy game. Turnovers and fouls killed the teams, Miami had 17 turnovers and 21 fouls while Boston had 18 turnovers and 19 fouls. Shaq was in the starting line-up and played pretty well but how are the Heat going to defend Rajon Rondo? They can beat Boston, they just need to cover Rondo. Lebron James also looked liked the star of the Heat. he had 31 points shooting 10-21 from the field. If Lebron is scoring 31 points night in and night out, teams like the Lakers, the Thunder, the Celtics and the Magic who have people who can stop Lebron will have an advantage. Watching the game made me feel pretty good about the Heat’s chances this season. They almost beat the Boston Celtics in Boston with little chemistry and none at all with Dwyane Wade who was injured for the pre-season. The Heat now have speed, they can rebound and play defense. They have guys who can play several positions and they look like contenders to me if their chemistry gets better.

The Boston Celtics headed to Cleveland today to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland won 95-87 behind J.J.Hickson’s 21 points and 6 rebounds. I didn’t watch the game but Cleveland had a pretty good preseason and I think they have a chance at making the play-offs.

I go over all of todays games and who I think will win, including Miami @ Boston

For now I will just put who I think will win today, there are 3 games on today, and I am pretty interested.

Houston Rockets @ LA Lakers

The Lakers did not have the best preseason, but we need to forget all of that, throw it in the past, it is time for the real NBA season. The Lakers will play hard now, they will stop at nothing to win. Bynum is injured so Odom and Gasol are the 4 and the 5 in the starting lineup. Houston should watch out with Yao Ming in case he gets injured, actually, didn’t I hear something about limited playing time for Yao? The Lakers have more talent and more experience. pick LA to win this game.

Miami Heat @ Boston Celtics

Dwyane Wade is starting. Good thing. They can finally stop the big 3 , but what about the big 4. Rajon Rondo is one of the NBA’s best point guards, he can get a triple-double and it is hard to stop him. Mario Chalmers cannot stop this guy and if they put Wade on Rondo, Ray Allen is left open. Kevin Garnett will probably get tired early and Chris Bosh will be playing on Glen “Big Baby” Davis. Big Baby cannot stop Bosh. Another important factor will be wether or not Jermaine O’Neil will be okay, he has an injured wrist but was cleared to play. When he does leave the court Shaquille O”Neal will come out, and he and Rondo looked pretty good. When it all comes down to it, Boston has a better bench and home court advantage, I’ve got Boston.

Phoenix Suns @ Portland Trailblazers

Last time we saw these 2 take on each other Phoenix won in a 5 game series, and Brandon Roy was injured, and Phoenix had Amare Stoudamire. Now replacing Stoudamire is Channing Frye and Roy is playing for Portland. Greg Oden is injured but Marcus Camby can replace him, oh and Portland lost Travis Outlaw, but they do have Nicolas Batum. Hedo Turkoglu is the back-up small forward for veteran Grant Hill. Phoenix still has a good roster but they will get crushed down low. Steve Nash even said he didn’t like the direction the team is headed. Portland has a better roster and they have the home court advantage, Portland should breeze past Phoenix.

Read to see my picks for the weeks biggest match-ups.

I have decided I will post my bets of the biggest games of the week each week. Let me get started.

Denver Nuggets @ LA Lakers

I have Denver because the Lakers lost to Barcelona and Minnesota. I’m not saying LA is going to play this badly all year but the Lakers might not really care about who wins. I wouldn’t be surprised if LA wins this one, actually, every second makes me kind of lean towards LA, but I’m sticking with Denver.

Chicago @ Orlando

I think the Bulls are going to have a great season, they barely lost to Dallas with no Carlos Boozer. But no Boozer is a good reason why I think Orlando will win. The Magic are great and Boozer is out so it gives them another chance to win, I’m going with my gut on this one, Orlando.

Oklahoma City Thunder @ Denver Nuggets

Oklahoma City has a bunch of young talent and a very good coach. Durant on Anthony should be good. Westbrook on Billups. And don’t forget Harden on Smith. I do think Oklahoma has great talent but Denver right now seems like the winner, I have the Nuggets.

Miami Heat @ Atlanta Hawks

I don’t know if Dwyane Wade will be back to play against Joe Johnson and Chalmers will have to guard Bibby. Horford will have some nice plays and Joe Johnson on Chris Bosh should be exciting. Lebron will have to go crazy up against Marvin Williams. The Hawks also have former sixth man of the year Jamaal Crawford. To add to it all, the Hawks have home court advantage, I have Atlanta to win.

Orlando Magic @ Miami Heat

The Magic will outrebound the Heat and they can play better defense. Bosh might have to match up with Howard which would make Haslem play against Rahard Lewis. The Heat are at home but with Orlando’s defense and rebounding against Miami’s offense, I have Orlando in a close game.

Gibsons 15 points helps lead Cleveland to a 3-1 record

The Cleveland Cavaliers were led by Lebron James. The Cavs brought in Shaq and Antwan Jamison to help win Lebron a championship. They failed. Lebron James decided to join Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade in Miami. The Cavaliers had nothing else to do, but cold Cleveland be the surprise of the NBA this season? The Cavaliers stand in the preseason with a 3-1 record. They beat both Houston and Dallas in Texas and they beat Charlotte in Cleveland. It might only be preseason but they had both Varejao and Williams out and they still beat Dallas

Daniel Gibson had a good night against Dallas scoring 15 points and grabbing 4 rebounds. Jamison, Gibson, Varejao and Williams will have to lead this team this year. If the Cavaliers keep playing like they are, it should be an interesting season.
